OTA Beam Training Demonstrations on Custom Scalable 28 GHz Millimeter Wave Testbed

This work presents a custom over-the-air (OTA) 28 GHz millimeter wave testbed with planar custom-designed patch antenna arrays to demonstrate single-shot TTD-based rainbow beam training using wideband waveforms. The custom testbed integrated commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components, including data generation and acquisition using Xilinx ZCU216, mmWave front-end (ADI ADAR2004) and mmWave wideband frequency synthesizer (ADI ADF4372). We develop an end-to-end processing flow to demonstrate OTA beam training experiments, with focus on synchronization, hardware calibration and study of hardware impairments.
